The Manager of MKEK in Kırıkkale was arrested on charges of espionage

According to the news in the press, "Manager of Kırıkkale MKEK Weapon Factory was arrested" for allegedly spying by selling state secrets. We announce to the public opinion that the detained factory director, Mustafa Tanrıverdi, has no relationship or contact with SADAT Defense, only there is a similarity in the surnames.

According to the information received, which came on 1 April, the Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the report that "the MKEK Weapon Factory wants to sell state secrets" and sent the file to Ankara Police Department Anti-Organized Crime Branch to be followed up. 

In the notification, the teams evaluated the information that the Factory Manager Mustafa Tanrıverdi would sell the drawings and production plans of 2 weapons to a US arms factory in return for money, and the teams followed Tanrıverdi closely.

Following the decision to follow the technical means from the Criminal Court of Peace, the house, and the office of Tanrıverdi were followed for 24 hours. After learning that Tanrıverdi was going to make the purchase at a Söğütözü restaurant, listening and viewing devices were placed in the private hall where the meeting will take place.

The teams waiting for Tanrıverdi to finalize the deal, who came to the scene in the official car, arrested the factory manager at the restaurant's exit.

Claims that ‘he tried to sell secrets’

It was determined that Tanrıverdi received US 200,000 for drawing and production plan of the MP-5 weapon, which brought in 2 removable memories and its patent belongs to MKE, and US 300,000 for sketch and all production plans of the National Infantry rifle MPT-76, which just started production.

Tanrıverdi, after being detained by the court where he was referred while being arrested for the crimes of "taking advantage of state secrets, unfaithfulness to state services and taking bribes," it was learned that the search and seizure procedures were carried out in his home and workplace.

It was learned that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
